Erasmus+ School Group Visits Kotsanas Museum of Ancient Greek Technology in Kolonaki
On December 21st, 2023, our Erasmus+ school group had the exceptional opportunity to visit the Kotsanas Museum of Ancient Greek Technology in Kolonaki, Athens. This visit, organized under the Erasmus+ program, aimed to immerse students and teachers in the rich history of ancient Greek technological advancements, fostering a deeper appreciation for the ingenuity of ancient Greeks.

The day began with eager anticipation as the group gathered at the museum entrance. The Kotsanas Museum is renowned for its extensive collection of replicas and working models of ancient Greek inventions, offering visitors a hands-on experience of historical technology .

Upon entering, the group was welcomed by a knowledgeable guide who provided an engaging overview of the museum's exhibits. The students and teachers were introduced to a variety of ancient Greek inventions, ranging from the mechanical wonders of the Antikythera mechanism to the ingenious war machines of Archimedes.

One of the highlights of the visit was the demonstration of the ancient Greek hydraulic technology. The students were fascinated by the intricate designs and the advanced understanding of hydraulics displayed by ancient engineers. Nevertheless, he emphasized the influence of the specific technology on the Renaissance period which was the key point under research in our project .
