Training of teachers of our school abroad

Four teachers of our school, Panteli Maria, Katrakazas Charalambos, Matzorou Triantafyllia and Solomou Amalia traveled to Barcelona as part of the implementation of our school's Erasmus+ project to attend the seminar "21st century skills for Teachers" held in the capital of Catalonia from 24 to 28 June. Their participation in this training was aimed at the development and improvement of their skills in education in the 21st century.

The action, held under the auspices of the highly experienced educational organization Euromentor, focused on training teachers in the latest pedagogical strategies and tools to promote critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication among students. These skills are seen as essential to preparing students to thrive in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.

During the five days, they attended various workshops, lectures and interactive sessions led by a charismatic facilitator, Miranda d'Arcy, who managed to keep the participants' attention undiminished throughout the seminars and encourage their active participation in the various actions.

Ms. Panteli Maria highlighted the impact of the seminar, stating: "The sessions were incredibly insightful. We explored innovative teaching methods that we can implement immediately in our classrooms to better engage our students and enhance their learning experiences."

Mr. Katrakazas Charalambos was particularly impressed by the focus on integrating technology into the curriculum. "We learned about the latest educational technologies and how they can be used to create more interactive and personalized learning environments. This will be a game changer for our students," he remarked.

The seminar also emphasized the importance of social-emotional learning, cultural competence and the ability to adapt to diverse learning needs. Ms. Matzorou Triantafyllia shared: "Understanding and dealing with the emotional and cultural aspects of our students' lives is vital. This seminar gave us practical strategies to support all students more effectively."

Ms. Solomou Amalia found networking opportunities invaluable. "Meeting teachers from different parts of the world and exchanging ideas was the highlight of the trip. It broadened our perspectives and inspired us to bring new ideas back to our school," he noted..

The trip wasn't just about professional development. It also provided teachers with the opportunity to experience Barcelona's rich cultural heritage. During their stay, they explored iconic landmarks such as the Sagrada Família, La Pedrera (Casa Mila), Casa Batllo, Park Güell, toured the pedestrian street of La Rambla, the Gothic Quarter, the awesome Barceloneta Beach, and visited the National Museum of Art of Catalonia, the Picasso Museum, and the Joan Miro Foundation adding a cultural dimension to their educational journey.

As our teachers return, they are eager to share their new knowledge and experiences with their colleagues and students. This training marks an important step in our school's commitment to providing the highest quality education and preparing our students for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.

Management and staff express their heartfelt gratitude to teachers for their dedication and to the training organizers for facilitating such a transformative experience. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this will have on our school community.

Finally, we would like to thank IKY and the European Erasmus+ program for the grant we were given for participating in the seminar.
